Black people--

Our goals are far too unrealistic. I won't stand for it another minute.

Many of us holdfast to youthful aspirations of becoming rich and famous well into old age. I wish i could say that we'on't know any better, but there are those with college degrees who are seemingly just biding time at a day job in hopes of still, somehow, some way, becoming the next 2 Chainz.

Then there are those of you who have come to terms with the fact that, despite the nights you've spent in your prayer closet crying out to the Lord to let you be the next host of 106&Park, all that He has planned for you is to be the next hostess at O'Charley's. For accepting this calling, I'm proud of you. However, it really concerns me that you've decided to still try and live the life that you always thought you deserved, even if it means living beyond your means.

Harriet Tubman, Cecily Tyson and Morgan Freeman ain’t get chased through the rolling hills of the Appalachian mountains trying to free slaves so you niggas upstanding men and women of God could spend your lives chasing fruitless endeavors.

Be better. For them, if not yourself.
