Say No to "No homo"

Mar 4, 2009

Excuse me as I step onto my soapbox....

Okay, so I don't hate anything in life, but the phrase "no homo" comes pretty darn close. I don't know what I dislike more, the fact that people say it all the time or the fact that people actually will stop you mid-conversation and freakin' wait for you to call "no homo" before they continue on with the conversation, which may actually be a serious one!

Now I'm not going to sit here and act like I never used the phrase before, because I have. But that was short-live when I realized that it could potentially be offensive to some people. And that's not my place to judge, regardless of anyone's lifestyle. To each his/her own.

I am just tired of hearing it, and being expected to say it, period. And most of the time it comes from people who know me well and KNOW that I love women with all four chambers of my heart and then some, lol. I know one thing...if you are having a conversation with me and you pause in order to allow me to say "no homo"....I want you to know two things:
1. I'm not going to say it, and the conversation is pretty much over from that point forward.
2. You can stop what you are doing immediately......and then proceed to "kill yourself" (another phrase that I'm tired of, but this post can only be so long).

...excuse me as I step down from my soapbox. Thank you.
