15 Things I've learned in college

Mar 29, 2010

  1. 11am is early. Schedule late classes.
  2. Regardless of who you were in high school, you can become anyone you want to be in college. Never lie to yourself.
  3. People don't play 'bout politics, gender inequality, or sexual preference. Be open-minded.
  4. If you want groupies, join a group.
  5. Not every college student is broke. Get you a side-hustle.
  6. People categorize you based on your major. Don't make assumptions.
  7. People measure their success by comparing their accomplishments to that of others. Set personal goals and strive to achieve them.
  8. 1 in 3 people really WON'T make it up out of here. Don't be one of them.
  9. A LOT of people have smoked weed, teachers included.
  10. The simple question, "Where are you from?" solicits the most lies. Oh, you're from Atlanta, DC, NY, Raleigh, and Argentina by way of New Orleans? Don't false claim.
  11. When the public transit bus pulls up, chivalry goes out the window and it's every man, woman, and child for themselves. Get it how you live.
  12. Your reputation is all you have. Act accordingly.
  13. There are several opportunities for growth--spiritually, culturally, musically, etc. Take advantage.
  14. Your amount of academic success is determined solely by your ability to refrain from social networks. Stay focused.
  15. Life goes on.
